1. Keynote speech, "5G Technology", Dr. Yongbin Wei, Senior director at Qualcomm research
Dr. Yongbin Wei is currently a Senior Director of Engineering with Qualcomm Research of Qualcomm Incorporated. Qualcomm is an S&P 500 company, leading in developing and delivering innovative digital wireless communications products and services. Its business areas include integrated chipsets and system software for cellular communications, technology licensing, satellite-based systems, etc. At Qualcomm research, Yongbin has been leading new technology development for Qualcomm’s current and future generation products, in particular the cutting-edge 5G NR technology recently. Prior to that, he has worked on the system design, standardization and product development of cdma2000 Rev. C and Rev. D. (1xEV-DV), HRPD (1xEV-DO), 4G LTE, LTE advanced, and LTE advanced pro. He was one of the leading contributors for the physical layer design and evaluation of these systems. He also represented Qualcomm in 3GPP2 from 2000 to 2006. His research areas includes wireless communications systems, adaptive signal processing, modem algorithms, machine-to-machine communication, spectrum sharing, and RF engineering. He has authored more than 20 journal and conference papers, and holds more than 200 US issued patents with many more pending. Dr. Wei received Bachelor and Master degrees from Univ. of Science and Technology of China, and Ph.D. degree from Purdue University, all in Electrical Engineering.

2. Keynote speech, "Mm-wave communications: 5G and beyond", Prof. Andreas F. Molisch, University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
Abstract: Mm-wave communication is a key component of 5G mm-wave systems, enabling a significantly larger bandwidth (and thus, potentially, datarate) than in the traditional sub-6GHz systems. Various demonstrations of both fixed wireless access and mobile broadband access have been demonstrated. It is thus time to review future applications. After a brief review of this state of the art, this talk will concentrate on two examples at the extreme ends of applications: mm-wave communications for high-mobility applications, and THz transmission for short-distance applications. For the former case, we will investigate how mm-wave systems can benefit V2X, as well as high-speed rail (HSR) applications. Issues of range, beamforming accuracy, and outage, as well as underlying channel characteristics, will be discussed. We then also discuss the migration to even higher frequency ranges (sub-THz) and weigh the pros and cons for different short-range applications.
Bio: Andreas F. Molisch is Professor and Solomon-Golomb – Andrew-and-Erna-Viterbi Chair at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. His current research interests are the measurement and modeling of mobile radio channels, multi-antenna systems, ultra-wideband communications and localization, novel modulation and multiple access systems, and wireless video distribution. He has authored, coauthored, or edited four books (among them the textbook Wireless Communications, Wiley-IEEE Press), 19 book chapters, more than 200 journal papers, some 300 conference papers, as well as more than 80 patents and 70 standards contributions. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, Fellow of the AAAS, Fellow of the IEEE, Fellow of the IET, an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, and a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and recipient of numerous awards.
